The customer: a leading manufacturer of electronics components for car interior fittings.

The task:

• Design and implementation of a complete line for LED production on lead frames with wire bonder, casting equipment and PBI.

Special challenges:

• At the express wish of the customer, integration of as many machines and processes as possible from a single source.
• Integration of an automatic visual inspection for die positioning, wire bonding and the shape of the plastic calotte after casting.

Highlights of the F & K Delvotec solution:

F & K Delvotec implemented an integrated line with wire bonders, casting equipment and PBI covering a number of process stages. The integrated hardening oven was not supplied by F & K Delvotec, but was integrated by F & K Delvotec. The scope of the project also included the general software chain across the entire line, including transmission of the production data to the host computer. The standardised boot transport system makes the change to other products simple.

Customer benefits: 

The customer benefits from optimised efficiency: As the machines come from only two manufacturers they are perfectly integrated. (Wire bonder, casting equipment and PBI came from F & K Delvotec – the ovens were supplied by a specialist manufacturer.) F & K Delvotec was responsible for the process, which means there were no divided responsibilities. The customer benefits from an unusually high level of quality assurance by a multi-stage, comprehensive PBI with uniform programming for a range of inspection tasks. Even the visual inspection for the calotte form of the LED lights was included.
